Exploring music as a force for well-being, connection and social change.
Musicology is an exploration of what makes us human. Through the study of music, culture, memory, and well-being, the project investigates how sound can transcend boundaries, nurture belonging, foster resilience, and reconnect us to ourselves and one another. Rooted in the belief that creativity can serve the common good, it seeks to transform research into dialogue, cultural experiences and positive social impact.
Named in homage to Prince's Musicology, the project reflects my belief that music belongs as much to people and communities as it does to academia. Inspired by the artist's understanding of music as a language of connection, expression, and empowerment, the research explores the role of music in shaping identity, well-being, belonging, and human flourishing.

Project phases
Musicology is an interdisciplinary research and cultural engagement project exploring the relationship between music, identity, wellbeing and social change. Combining scholarship, creative practice and public engagement, it investigates how music can foster belonging, intercultural dialogue, emotional resilience and collective wellbeing. The long-term vision is to transform this research into exhibitions, educational initiatives and public programmes that bring academic knowledge into conversation with wider audiences and communities.
I explore how the transformative power of the arts can be strategically applied to enhance collective wellbeing and drive social change. This work synthesises global academic insights with practical creative strategy to advocate for music as a fundamental pillar of public health and community resilience.

Following my participation in the Talk "Musicodiscussionismo" in The Experimental Pedagogies Research Group (EPRG) "24hrs on earth" collaborative effort (https://eprg.arts.ac.uk/24hrs-on-earth) to share and discuss meaningful topics to challenge existing assumptions about ways of addressing pedagogic concerns, and the multiple ways in which we as world citizens might explore questions of learning.
I expand on the topic of Music as a universal language capable of overcoming cross-cultural boundaries, decolonising the curriculum, uniting people empathically with love and aiming to ‘learn to learn about racial, social and environmental (in)justice’.
